“Eureka – I Have Found It!”

I Have Found It!

G’day,

Annie from Australia here!

You are phenomenal!

Now before we begin…

Grab a glass of water …or your favourite beverage –  I’m drinking filtered rainwater…

Let’s take a moment for some perspective… stop and breathe.

Now…

Have you been trying to solve a difficult challenge?

Feeling stressed about everything?

Whether it’s asking for help or organizing a break schedule?

Perhaps you’ve been working through this for hours, days, even weeks?

It may be a problem which only time can solve – e.g. a doctors appointment.

Or it may be something, which you, just need to think through and work out yourself.

It’s times like these it’s easy to get stuck in the challenge cycle –

Around and around you go, looking for the best solution…

It almost feels like your spinning so fast that your going to have a brain melt down!

Stop breathe  – Just be still.

Then try something different.

Do something you enjoy doing – move on to a project you love!

I know it’s been a long time since you did something just for you!

Now it’s time!

Problem solving creatively is often at its best when you try another way.

Here are a couple of creative options.

  1. Research shows, it’s easier to choose an option when there are 3 choices. You can deliberate with 2 options forever. So instead break it down to 3 choices and make it easier to choose 1 option.
  2. When you are doing something completely different to usual -Like driving or riding a push bike, weeding the garden, walking around the block, taking a bath -or simply working on another project.
  3. Take Brain Brake – a short break – When you will think about blue elephants – or orange bananas or  something, only your break could imagine.

When your focused on something else,

it gives the brain space it needs and the time to relax …

and soon …

Eureka!

It’s a Greek word meaning – I have found it!

A break through, discovery – this has happened – while even taking a bath.

So think of something fun for you to do…

that perhaps you haven’t taken the opportunity to do for a while or in a very long time…

How are You going to – Eureka the best solution? Take a brain break!

Create a great day!

I like how you describe the importance of breaks and how that gives “space” to our brain! Love it!

You’re absolutely right Annie, not fretting about a problem is a great way to solve it, even though it seems counter-intuitive at the time. It works! And I like your suggestion of 3 options.

Eureka! What a great article with some helpful tips … I wish I had read this before picking out my laptop the other day … As I think back to the experience, I can only imagine how much easier the decision would have been pondering over 3 laptops rather than waffling between only 2 … I’ll be filing away these useful tips for the next time I need to make a hurried decision.

    Annie,

Great tips, those will be set away somewhere with easy access inside my head.

Every time I read your introduction, it makes me thirsty.

It is amazing how often the answer will come to us when we just let it go and stop thinking about it so hard. Einstein said that it is impossible to solve a problem with the same brain that created it meaning the same thought processes.

Great post and great advice. I especially like the idea of coming up with 3 possible solutions making it easier for the brain to choose one with less conflict. Priceless advice.

    Thank you

Thanks for this post. I need it today!

I didn’t know about narrowing things down to 3 choices. Great tip! Actually, they are all great tips that I will definitely put into action.

  9. Very helpful tip you provided about having 3 choices or options to help your brain move off of being split over 2 options.
