Bicycling Looking Forward or Glancing Back?

Annie from Australia here!

You are Ingenious!

Now before we begin…

Grab a glass of water …or your favorite beverage-  I’m drinking filtered rainwater…

Let’s take a moment for some perspective… stop and breathe.

Close your eyes for a moment…

Interesting question today –

Think of 3 areas of your life you would love to impact?

Got the 3 areas, it could be physical, financial, family, social, spiritual or learning?

Just pick your Top 3 areas you would like to see a change!

Ok? You name it and write it down.

Now – If you could think of anything… you want to achieve in the next 30 days In each of those 3 areas what would it be?

It’s ok to dream a little! – You deserve it!

Have you ever put off getting a reward, until you had completed something?

I had a friend who would schedule his morning and no matter what happened, he would not have lunch until those things on his list were completed.

Some days it was 2 or 3pm or later he finally got lunch – and He always got things done.

So when do you get your reward?

Some people think taking action deserves a reward.

Mmm interesting… I grew up with this belief.

My mother worked from home, she would have a busy day or a difficult customer and after the customer had gone – she would go and get a reward of a couple of pieces of chocolate. (Writing this now – I used to treasure catching her with the chocolate – so I could have a piece too.)

I didn’t realize till recently, its easy to reward the wrong thing.

You see – I had been trying to start a business for many years.

I would take action move forward and come across a brick wall and stop.

And I would reward myself for taking action. A bit like my mothers chocolate reward.

I was listening to my daughter who was in the middle of teacher training. We were watching a movie on Tuesday which is movie night…She said, Mum I deserve to watch a movie I haven’t done anything like that for 6 weeks.

So I asked her to look not at what she had done, but what she had yet to accomplish…

That is how you measure accomplishment…

–       Forward looking…what needs to be done yet to finish!

–       not

–       Backwards glancing…look at what I’ve done!

Recently I was watching the road push bike racing in the biggest race of the year the Tour D France – a passion of my husband’s and his enthusiasm is so infectious the whole family ends up watching it.

I found it was always interesting watching the finish line and those racers who were forward looking to racing to the finish line.

The rider who was compelled to backwards glancing – it was not often a backwards glancing person would win the race… the focus was in the wrong area.

I would stand up and yell at the television to the rider – don’t look back!

Be forward looking and reward your accomplishments!

How are You going to – accomplish your 3 items in the next 30 day!

Create a great day!

  1. I like the idea of rewarding yourself and also choosing some specific areas to change. Thanks!
